2,000 Words

Tonight was the Jester'Z fundraiser. It was everything I had hoped for, and more. (Not only did we sell out... WE SOLD OUT BY 3:00 IN THE AFTERNOON!)

I'd love to stay up and tell you all about it, but I'm too tired for words (typing them, speaking them... thinking them). And then it hit me that I could use a couple pics to show you the current state of my very tired union.

If a picture's worth 1,000 words, well then... let's give you 2,000!

This is my kitchen.

It is a MESS.

Judy taught me to always clean up as I go when I'm baking. I haaaaaaate to see dirty dishes on a counter, and don't even mention the egg carton. (That's right, I have TRASH on my counter!)

And yet... it's been like this for DAYS. Because I'm tired to clean it up.

And then there are these bad bous.

Do you know whose hand this is?! ... MINE!!!

I know, I look like a homeless person.

This is how tired, I am people: I have trash on my kitchen counter and chipped nail polish. And I'm going to bed in this state

*Note the time of this post actually hitting the www: I started it last night, fell asleep while the pics were uploading... and then finished this morning. Today, MAYBE I'll do some dishes or paint my nails (oh, and tell ya'll about the Jester'Z fundraiser). Then again, maybeI'll take a nap. Only time'll tell...

It's what's for breakfast.

I'm not kidding.

Welcome to the world of what's for breakfast at my house, people.

Isn't that cake BEAUTIFUL?! (And I can't even tell you how delicious it was. There aren't words. ... And we all know that I know (and use) A LOT of words.)

Last night, I got a group of friends and family (who are also my friends) together and we went to Jesterz for some laughter and good times. (More on that later.) After the show, we went to The Sugar Bowl, where my good friend Charla had dropped off a cake that she'd made with her very own hands for my special day. I about passed out when they brought it back to the banquet room (we had made reservations - at The Sugar Bowl - who even knew that was possible?!).

Please allow me to show you a close-up of the top of the cake:

Yeah, those are Kit-Kats.(Who loves Kit-Kats? Uh ... me!)

I'm pretty sure that I squealed like an 8 yr old girl when I saw this beauty. And then they put it down right in front of me, and I swiped at the ganache.

And then I thought "that ganache is a garnish!" and I cracked up. And swiped at it again. And then I turned the cake to show Christine what I'd done, and said, in a horrified voice, "that ganache is a garnish!", and she asked me if I needed a spoon to scoop the rest of it up. And then the four of us sitting together in the middle of the table cracked up at the reference.

Ahhhh... how I do love quoting movies. (And friends who know movie quotes.)

I also love cake. And friends who make me cake. And friends (and family, who are also my friends) who help me eat cake.

I love my birthday. I love cake. I love to laugh. I love cake. I love my friends. I love cake. I love my life!

But mostly, I love cake.

And today, I get to eat that entire top tier by myself.

Lucky me!

Wednesday - my new favorite day of the week

I've been hanging out with Christian on Wednesdays lately, and this week we made a little trip to our favorite store (ABC) for cake decorating supplies. Check it.

Like I needed any of this stuff (not so much). I went, knowing that I wanted to get a little thing of red dye and some more marshmallow flavoring - and a big tip for cupcakes.

What I ended up with...
2 candy/Bakerella-style-cupcake-bite forms
1 ginormous thing of red food coloring
1 little guy of burgundy food coloring
1 little guy of blue food coloring
1 bag of pink chocolate (for the afore mentioned cupcake-bites)
3 pkgs of SUPER CUTE cupcake cups
1 cupcake shaped cookie-cutter
1 pkg of Easter Bunny sprinkles
1 container of raspberry cake filling
1 4 inch cake pan

Not quite the $4 I was planning on spending, but it's all good. Because with these goods, I was able to make some pretty cute little Spring/Easter cuppycakes this week.

How cute are these cupcake cups? (Adorable, right?) On a scale of 1-10, I'm pretty sure they're a 12. I'm in love with the polka-dots.

And I got to use two of my new tips. I'm a pretty big fan of this tip. I only had to squeeze once, and a huge rush of icing came out. I'm pretty sure I'll never frost a cupcake with a knife again as long as I live.

And with this super sweet tip, I had to squeeze for a second longer than with the first. It's more than one squeeze, but it was a pretty easy little swirly move that gave me the Hershey kiss-esque look in the center.

Sprinkle the tops of my adorable little cakes with some pink Easter Bunny shaped confections, and... voila!

The cutest little cupcakes of all time. (And they tasted pretty darn good, too.)

Lovin the Red, White & Blue

I have to show you guys this cake... Yeah, it's not mine. It's Christian's, but it's SO FREAKING AWESOME that I have to show it to the world. As discussed previously, we're taking a haitus from cake class. This Thursday was the first week we weren't making cakes in... 2 months. As we walked out of work, Christine, Christian and I were laughing about how GREAT it felt to know that we weren't gonna have to wash any frosting tips out before we went to bed that night. Little did we know that Christian was gonna go home and watch the VP debate and then wax patriotic and create this red, white and blue beauty. Check it.
Isn't it awesome? I did a close up of the side so you can see how cool the basket weave was. She used the star tip for the weave, and look at those super cute little red & blue stars at the end of each weave pattern. Oh my gosh, she's a creative genius!
